Creating a sketch from a photo in Photoshop

Background Info

I have wanted to try to create a sketch from a photo in Photoshop before but I have never taken the time to learn. This week was the perfect week to try it. After going through the tutorial, I created a sketch of my son when he was a baby. I love the way it turned out! I am going to do another one of my other son when he was a baby and print them both for my house!

Photoshop Skills Used

o   Opened a photo in Photoshop

o   Went to Image > Adjustments > Autolevels to create contrast

o   Created a new layer

o   Went to Image > Adjusments > Desaturate to desaturate the image

o   Duplicated the desaturated image

o   Went to Blur > Motion Blur and played with the tool until I got the results I wanted

Design Considerations

o   I wanted a black and white color scheme for this assignment

o   I wanted to keep a lot of negative space behind my subject

o   I wanted to keep this graphic really simple and black and white so I did not do a lot to it other than the sketch
