Adding an image to text in Photoshop
Background Info
After learning how to add an image to a shape in Photoshop last week, I wanted to try to add an image to text in Photoshop. I have seen several examples of this and had wanted to try it. I have had some pictures of a sunflower field that I wanted to do something with so I added a picture of sunflowers to a text. I wanted it to look like something I would put on a t shirt and wear in the summer. I also wanted to do something different for my exhibit for this week and build on skills I had learned in this class.
Photoshop Skills Used
o Created a new background for my graphic design and used the eyedropper tool for the background color to match the picture
o Used layers and put them in order to be able to create the design I wanted
o Added text from Photoshop to the background
o Added my image to the top of the layers
o Used the clipping mask to control the content and the visibility of the layers, to make the image show through the text and also keep the background color I wanted
o Saved the image to use for this week’s exhibit and for my photography portfolio
Design Considerations
o I wanted to use analogous colors in this design, greens, oranges and yellows, I wanted a warm color scheme because it was all about sunflowers
o I used a bold font choice because I wanted a lot of the content of the picture to show through the text
o I used the grids and rulers in Photoshop to align my elements in the center and did a square shape for my design
o I used proximity in my design by keeping my bold text in a square shape, close together so the image could shine througho I used repetition in how I aligned the text on the design, I decided to have three letters on each line for some creativity, instead of putting the entire word on one line
