Using retouching techniques in Photoshop
Background Information
I decided to use some retouching techniques in Photoshop that I had never tried before. I have done a lot of retouching of photos in Photoshop before but I wanted to try some new techniques. I used the techniques on a photo I took of a girl for her senior photos. I specifically wanted to use the spot healing tool and the lightening eyes techniques we learned about in the exercises.
Photoshop skills used
§ I used the spot healing tool
§ I used the clone stamp tool
§ I used the skin smoothing technique we learned about in the exercises
§ I used the lightening eyes technique we learned about in the exercises
§ I whitened her teeth a bit using a teeth-whitening action I had previously purchased.
§ I used an action that I had previously purchased to enhance the photo
§ I saved the image for my assignment, my exhibit and my photography portfolio
Design considerations
§ I liked the contrasting colors of the pink of her shirt and the green of the background.
§ I used repetition when I used the lightening eyes technique on both of her eyes so they looked the same.
§ I made sure that the background behind the subject looked clean and didn’t distract from the girl.
§ I cropped out part of a fence that I felt distracted from the subject of the image.
§ I loosely followed the rule of thirds composition technique, her eyes are the focus of the picture in the top part of the image.
