Adding images to shapes in Photoshop

Background info

I wanted to use the skills we used this week in Photoshop, adding images to shapes, to create a graphic design. We recently took a trip to Bermuda and I thought it would be fun to add some photos that I took there and some text to the graphic.

Photoshop skills used

§  Created a new background in Photoshop

§  Used the shape tool to create circles

§  Dragged three images I had taken to those circles

§  Used the text tool to create text for the image

§  Used the eyedropper tool to create the background color and the text color

§  Saved the graphic to use for the assignment and for my own photography portfolio

Design considerations

§  I used repetition when I created three shapes of the same size.

§  I used the grid tools to align the shapes as well as the text.

§  I chose a bold font because I wanted to be able to see the color of the text clearly and I felt it went well with the pictures I added.

§  I used more of a monochromatic scheme for this graphic design. I wanted a lot of shades of blues and teals because of the beach pictures and I wanted a peaceful, calming look.
