Using brushes in Photoshop

Background info

I had never used the art history brushes tool in Photoshop before this graphic design class. So I wanted to stretch myself and use it on a photo I took of my son in front of a colorful mural. I will be able to teach other people about this tool to use with photos they take. They will be able to give their photo an artistic and creative look. 

Photoshop skills used

§  Opened a photo I took in Photoshop

§  Added an action that I had previously purchased to the photo

§  Used the crop tool to crop the image

§  Used a few different brushes from the art history brush tool to practice and decide what look I wanted for this photo

§  Decided on a couple brushes to use for the photo

§  Saved the photo for this assignment and for my creative project

Design considerations

§  I wanted to learn a new tool in Photoshop to enhance my photography skills so I learned about the art history brush tool.

§  After playing around with a few different brushes, I chose a couple different ones that I thought looked best with the photo I wanted to use.

§  I wanted to use this particular photo because it has a lot of contrasting colors like reds, greens, blues, yellows, and oranges. 

§  I also like that my son was wearing a lot of black, I liked the look of his outfit with the mural.
